Skills to Pay the Bills is a training program designed specifically for young people who want to thrive in the workplace.
Our Peer Leaders use the Skills to Pay the Bills program to bring workplace interpersonal and professional skills to life for young people. Through a series of interactive and engaging activities, participants explore six essential skills important for success in any career. Each activity is designed to be fun and encourage active participation and collaboration.
Skills to Pay the Bills empowers young people to explore and develop skills in six key areas, including:
- Communication
- Enthusiasm and Attitude
- Teamwork
- Networking
- Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking
- Professionalism
Upcoming Training Opportunities
Skills to Pay the Bills is open to students* aged 14 to 22 who have a documented disability** and live in Arizona.
We currently offer the “Skills to Pay the Bills” program in a virtual format. This program requires a three-week commitment and consists of six sessions held on Zoom, every Wednesday and Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
September Session Dates
Session 1: Wednesday, September 2
Session 2: Thursday, September 3
Session 3: Wednesday, September 9
Session 4: Thursday, September 10
Session 5: Wednesday, September 16
Session 6: Thursday, September 17
Registration Deadline: August 12
*High school, college, university, certificate program, other post-secondary training program, etc.
**Documented disability may include an IEP, 504 Plan, or medical documentation of a disability or diagnosis.
No cost for participants
Thanks to our diverse funding and collaborative partnerships, including with the Rehabilitation Services Administration/Vocational Rehabilitation Services, youth can participate in Skills to Pay the Bills at no charge. To receive this funding and facilitate this program, participants must complete a Pre‑Employment Transition Services (Pre‑ETS) Form. This Form is the document RSA/VR uses to authorize funding support for eligible students.
