Julia Castillo is a Mexican Cuban American university student based out of Arizona. In early childhood Julia was diagnosed with learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dysgraphia along with a few others. Julia also has a rare neurological disability known as Charcot Marie Tooth disease. Julia is currently studying theater under an academic scholarship and is on her way to a bachelor’s degree. Julia has been outspoken and driven to advocating for herself and others with disabilities from an early age.
Julia grew up in the special education program as well as the gifted program often being labeled twice exceptional. Her experience with disability provides a unique yet relatable perspective for those living with a disability. Julia is an artist, daughter, friend, and an advocate. She first began her journey with Diverse Ability Incorporated in 2019 as a participant of the Arizona Youth Leadership Forum (AZYLF) and continued her relationship with the organization in 2023 as a facilitator of another AZYLF conference. She looks forward to continuing her work with Diverse Ability Incorporated.
