Kailen Matty

Kailen was born in Flagstaff, and grew up in a small community in Navajo County, where she currently resides. Kailen is Christian, and is grateful for her supportive family. She provides childcare services for several young cousins, and aspires to become a massage therapist.

Kailen is a good reader, and enjoys volunteering at a local school. She appreciates music, art, and is skilled at both sewing, and crocheting. Kailen loves helping others, and making people smile. She has a positive outlook on life, and an upbeat personality. Her two favorite drinks are coffee, and Dr. Pepper, and she sure appreciates the boost of energy they give her, especially when working in childcare.

Kailen was a cheerleader during her high school days, and stays active through participation in Special Olympics, where she excels at softball, and track and field events. She also enjoys lifting weights, running on the treadmill, and yoga.

Kailen is very independent at home, and is engaged to be married. She and her fiancé are both 2020 graduates of Arizona Youth Leadership Forum (AZYLF), and Kailen considers the opportunities and resources she gained at AZYLF an investment in her future. Kailen takes leadership seriously and currently serves as Co-Chair of the Arizona Youth Leadership and Engagement Initiatives Alumni Association Executive Committee. Sharing her insights and perspectives on living in rural Arizona, are especially helpful in this capacity.

Kailen treasures her plush toy collection, and values family traditions such as Secret Santa, and White Elephant Gift Exchange. She enjoys playing video games, going on dates with her fiancé, and building new skills. Kailen’s personal motto is, “No pain, no gain”.
